Trusted care and staffing across Bristol
Protocol Healthcare Services works with families and care providers right across Bristol and the wider South West. For families we arrange home care that helps a loved one stay safe and independent at home, from a short daily visit through to full live-in support. For care providers we supply qualified nurses, carers and support workers, drawing on more than ten years of experience matching the right people to the right settings.
As an REC-affiliated healthcare staffing agency, our reach extends well beyond our home base in the South of England. We do not run a branch office in Bristol, but we coordinate care and place vetted professionals here the same way we do everywhere we work, with enhanced DBS and right to work checks, references and training completed before anyone starts, and a consultant on hand around the clock.

Local knowledge across Bristol
Bristol is the largest city in the South West, a place of steep hills, harbourside terraces and Georgian crescents, with communities as varied as Clifton and Hotwells in the west, Bedminster and Southville south of the river, Redland, Bishopston and Henleaze to the north, and Fishponds, St George and Brislington to the east. Care needs vary just as much across the city, from the flats around the city centre in BS1 to the family homes of BS3, BS6, BS8 and BS16, and we tailor support to the person and the place rather than offering a one size fits all service. Many of the families we speak to know the city by its landmarks, such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge spanning the Avon Gorge, and we plan visits around the real geography of getting around a hilly city.
We regularly support people returning home after a stay at the Bristol Royal Infirmary in the city centre, part of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, or at Southmead Hospital in the north of the city, run by North Bristol NHS Trust. The first weeks back at home matter, so we help with medication routines, mobility and rehabilitation support and stay in close contact with families and community teams.
Adult social care in the city is overseen by Bristol City Council. If you think a relative may qualify for help with funding, you can ask the council for a free care needs assessment, followed by a financial assessment. Many families we work with self-fund their care, and we are always happy to explain how the different routes work. You can read more on our paying for care guide.
